it's cold and snowy outside, christmas draws ever closer, after that the new year... who else is excite for the january sales?

here's some general discussion of sales: how do we feel about them? do you avoid buying things, hoping they'll be on sale soon? how often do you buy things and the next day it's %50 off? do you leave things that you know everybody will recognise?

personally I'm enjoying h&m's current sale, some good stuff in there. although, I got a flowy purple dress the other day for £10, now it's £5. sigh! at times like this I comfort myself with "well, I wouldn't have got to use/wear it within that time if I'd got it just now". pretty heartbreaking when I haven't used it yet and this happens.
also some plaid-tweedy-ish (not sure what to call it) grey trousers which I wouldn't have got unless they were marked down, to be honest, but I'm loving already. gonna go back and get the black ones too, ahah.
also hoping to see the red-riding-hood petite range ADORABLE coat from topshop marked down in january... finger's crossed. £80 is way too much for a highstreet item to me.

high street trying to be couture? [21 Dec 2009|12:30am]

Loads of stores have started selling ridiculously priced stuff- like the £150 heels River Island has started doing and they have £200 bags on there at the moment as well. Today I was browsing the Miss Selfridge site and came across this: http://www.missselfridge.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=120&viewAllFlag=false&catalogId=20555&storeId=12554&categoryId=101447&parent_category_rn=70074&productId=1439751&langId=-1

If you had £100 to spend on a new necklace, would you seriously drop it in Miss Selfridge?!
Do any of you actually buy these random (and seemingly overpriced) items that crop up in high street stores now and then? Do you think the quality of that £100 necklace is actually any better than the £12 one next to it? On the River Island site, the £150 shoes look just like the ones they'd usually sell for £60 to me, I just don't get it.

SHOW ME OUTERWEAR [20 Dec 2009|09:36pm]

Ok, so it's winter, and most of the world is only going to see your coat and boots for the next two months.

What are YOU wearing? What do you look like when you're wrapped up warm?

Post a picture. I need inspiration. I'm wearing the same coat I've had for the past four years which is ripped and stretched and far too big, or a hoodie with two layers underneath. I'm not very creative with my outfits, so inspire me ladies.

I thought it might be nice to post something other than the usual formal chictopia style photos that I usually have to hand, so here's a selection outfits in various strange scenarios...

I also finally succumbed and counted my shoes, it sounds crazy, I know, but people kept making comments about it and they planted the seed of curiosity. The outcome is documented at my personal journal {sixty five}.

I recently discovered the [info]in_my_purse community, so if anyone's curious, this is what's in mine right now!
